Food for Families
‘Food for Families‘ began when the church was approached by a local school asking for help for three families at Christmas. Since then, the project has grown to cover support with food and gifts for between 80 and 100 families each Christmas.
In 2024, we’ve secured a grant that enables us to offer support to a similar number of households over the summer holidays.
St Barnabas also offer emergency food assistance to people who live, or work in, or have children at school, in the parish area. Referrals for support are usually received from schools or The Community Connectors. Direct referrals will be considered.
We are currently funded by a National Lottery Community Fund grant and by grants from the DWP via Wirral Borough Council. The Coop supports the project locally by providing bags, which enable us to pack food, and with deliveries using the COOP minibus at Woodslee School. We have also been supported by F R Kirk and Sons Funeral Directors.
