Easter Events
Fun, Flowers & Fizz
Friday 11th April – 7pm-9pm St Barnabas Church Village Centre
You’ll have fun and make some friends and have a glass of fizz along the way.
Maundy Thursday Meal
As has become our tradition, we will join together on Thursday 17th April in church.
We will meet at 6.30pm for 7 pm meal. The service does have some religious elements to it, but it is suitable for those who are sympathetic to but not Christian themselves (in other words we don’t expect everyone to believe or pray but you must be able to cope with a few readings, a prayer and the fact that we will share bread and wine in an agape style meal, and you may choose to join in or opt out.)
If you have not been before chat to someone who has. The meal will be fish and chips with dessert. There will be no charge but donations welcome. Sign up at the back of church or in The Centre.
Messy Church on Good Friday at 10.00 am
This will be held in church. We need as many helpers as we can muster. Can it be you? Could it be a family member? We will be doing bacon and sausage rolls, toast and hot cross buns for everyone who comes. There will be an egg hunt. Please sign up on the sheet at the back.
Good Friday reflection
with music and hymns 1.30pm to 3.15pm
This will be similar to previous years. There will be a chance to listen to music and words, look at pictures and sing some hymns. People are welcome to arrive and leave on the hour or half hour.
Church Easter clean up and decorate (with flowers).
Saturday 19th April from 9.30 am.
No expertise required. Please come and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and work with friends to make the church clean and tidy and pretty for Easter. There is enough to be done by anyone and everyone who turns up. Brasses will be cleaned on this date. Come for an hour and save others of us from being there for 4 hours!
Easter (Holy Saturday) Saturday 19th Vigil
7.30pm -8.30pm
This year, the Barnabas Consort will sing for us as we take ourselves into the moments before Easter. We will include lighting the first fire of Easter.
Easter day
9.15 am A traditional service of Holy Communion.
10.30 am Easter breakfast with Bacon and sausage rolls (and alternatives for those who prefer a biscuit or hot cross bun).
11.00 am A more modern service of Holy Communion.
